Music And Recording
A sound recording is a series of musical, spoken, or other sounds fixed in a recording medium, such as a CD or digital file, called a “phonorecord” (materiel or object that contains sound). There are 3 types of recordings.
- Acoustic recordings
- Electronic recordings
- In the box recordings
Acoustic recordings are when an audio engineer takes a microphone or microphones and records the sound of a live instrument such as piano, guitar, drum sets, etc. Electronic recordings are when an audio engineer uses a direct line (Di box) to record an instrument such as synthesizers, bass guitars, etc. In the box recordings are when an audio engineer records into a music application where everything is processed and edited digitally such as midi keyboard where it can be edited in several different ways. These processes can take hours and precision to perfect for the best results.
